Summary

Does God care about our work? What does it look like to be a Christian in the workplace? Brian Gray talks with two alumni of the 5280 Fellowship about the program's impact on their faith and their work.

Highlights

On the tensions of faith and work:

"What does it look like to see the workplace as something where I can bring my whole self to work, including my faith. What does that look like in light of the gospel and work that God is doing not just outside of work, but inside of work as well?"

On relating to culture:

"One of the most tangible takeaways for me was talking about the various approaches the church tends to take toward culture...[You can] isolate yourself from the culture that you perceive as unholy...or you sort of just immerse yourself and become part of the culture, and that can be problematic, too. My takeaway is to spend a little bit less time fretting about the culture around us and spend more time creating a good, healthy culture of our own."

On finding our calling:

"My primary calling is to be faithful and obedient as a Christian; vocational calling is secondary to that. I can be faithful in a lot of different contexts in life. Career, specifically for me, doesn't have to be that ultimate calling."
