"What's weird about chronic anxiety is it actually numbs your awareness. So what happens is you get reactive, you're not even aware that you're filled with anxiety. And next thing you know, you're on a metaphorical treadmill, running as fast as you can, getting nowhere. And so really, one of the most powerful tools is to pause..."

On breaking unhealthy patterns:

"It's such a powerful tool to learn how to notice recurring patterns of thinking and behavior in yourself. And once you notice them, you've got two choices. You can drive yourself crazy because you can't eliminate them...Or instead, you can practice curiosity and self-kindness..."
